Tempio di Esculapio is an ancient Roman temple dedicated to the god of medicine and healing, Asclepius (also known as Esculapio in Italian). Located on the Tiber Island in Rome, Italy, the temple was constructed in the fourth century BCE.
The temple was designed in a typical Roman style, with a rectangular floor plan and a portico around the perimeter. The entrance to the temple was on the east side and featured a pillared façade. Inside the temple, there was a sanctuary for the statue of Asclepius and a healing spring.
Throughout the centuries, the temple underwent several renovations and was used for different purposes. During the Middle Ages, it was converted into a church, and in the 18th century, it was used as a hospital. Today, the temple is no longer in use but remains a popular tourist attraction in Rome due to its historical significance and unique location on the Tiber Island.
